Lauren Safier is an artist based in Cambridge, MA.
Her practice explores how stories from the past resurface in the present. Working with traditional modes of making, including early Renaissance painting techniques, she connects contemporary art to longer cultural and material lineages. Her work spans painting and sculpture. Safier holds a BA in History from Barnard College and a Master of Design Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Before establishing her independent practice, she worked in the studio of Madrid-based artist Cristina Iglesias.
Most recently, she exhibited at the 10th UABB (Urbanism/Architecture Bi-City Biennale) in Shenzhen. She is currently an artist in residence at the Foundry in Cambridge, a historic steam pump foundry transformed into an arts and technology space. She will present work from this residency in a solo exhibition, Machina Memoriae (September 2026), reflecting on the layered history of the site.
